6-4-17 Pennsylvania:
WEST CHESTER >> The 67-year-old man who was to begin a state prison sentence late last month for sexually assaulting a young girl at his home for several years committed suicide before he could report to prison, according to authorities.
Michael J. “Milo” Mozzani was found dead in his home in Gap, Lancaster County by state police May 30, the day he had been ordered to begin his eight to 16 year sentence, Assistant District Attorney Megan King informed Judge James P. MacElree II, who had accepted his guilty plea and negotiated sentence, last week.
Mozzani had been on house arrest while awaiting the beginning of his sentence. The retiree, who last worked at the Black Horse Animal Hospital in Lancaster County, pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child on May 18. In addition to the prison time, he was ordered to spend five years on probation and would have been required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The victim of abuse, now in her 30s, was forced to perform oral sex on Mozzani each Saturday while his wife was at work, she told state police in 2014, when she reported the abuse. She was threatened with beatings if she ever revealed what he made her do, she told MacElree II during an emotional court address at his sentencing.
“I felt wounded and angry all the time,” said the woman, reading from a prepared statement. “I didn’t know how to get away. It took me years of therapy to come to the realization that what happened to me was not my fault.”
According to an affidavit filed by state police Trooper Lori Edgar, the woman reported the abuse in October 2014, saying that it had occurred at two residences in Chester County, one in West Bradford and another in Valley. The incidents took place between 1993 and 1998. Mozzani was arrested in May 2016. ..Source..
