1-3-2011 Maine:BRENTWOOD — Roger S. Goode, 65, was found dead in Bridgeton, Maine, before he went to trial on sexual assault charges.
Goode was scheduled to go on trial today in Rockingham County Superior Court for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Hampstead.
Jacqueline Docko, a prosecutor for the Rockingham County Attorney's Office, said the state was ready to select jurors for the trial this morning when she learned Goode had been found dead.
"We have unconfirmed reports that it was a suicide," Docko said. "But I know the Bridgeton police are investigating."
Bridgeton police said they are not releasing any information at this point.
Goode was released on bail after posting $75,000 cash bail in February of last year. He was facing 11 charges for repeatedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2009.
The victim was notified of Goode's death and the trial has been canceled, Docko said. ..Source.. by Cara Hogan
