2-16-2006 Pennsylvania:NORRISTOWN -- A day before he was to be punished for collecting more than 95,000 images of child pornography or erotica on his home computer, an Upper Providence man took his own life, authorities confirmed. Daniel Joseph Worth, 35, of Providence Forge, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head as he sat in a car outside a relative’s home in Perkiomen Township shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, according to Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Barbara Ashcroft.
The county coroner’s office ruled Worth’s death a suicide, according to prosecutors. Worth was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m., authorities said. "On the eve of being sentenced for what was a very egregious child pornography possession collection, the defendant’s desperation over potentially doing substantial jail time may have played into his decision to end his life," Ashcroft said on Wednesday.
