Man being held on sex abuse charges left a suicide note
A 47-year-old man apparently killed himself Monday morning while being held at the Washington County Jail in Hillsboro on sex abuse charges.
Washington County sheriff's deputies had not determined the cause of death, but the man left a suicide note.
The man, whose name has not been released, was being held on five counts of first-degree sex abuse, two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and six counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct.
At 5 a.m. Monday morning, deputies found the man in his cell and discovered that he wasn't breathing. Deputies and medical staff attempted CPR. But when Hillsboro Fire Department crews arrived, the man was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation of the man's death indicates that he took his life in the night.
Deputies say that the state medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death.
The sheriff's office will conduct an investigation into the cause of death and review procedures at the jail. ..News Source.. by Christian Gaston
